Pregnancy and Feet

Pregnancy Image

Pregnancy will often swell feet and shift the centre of gravity forward which adds more pressure on the feet. In the third trimester feet can turn out to help with balance and stability. This puts pressure on tendons, muscles and ligaments of the foot. It can cause pain and problems such as bunions, ingrown toenails and tendonitis may develop. The feet can enlarge one to two sizes during preganancy. Our Podiatrists can evaluate and treat foot problems that develop and prescribe orthotics for support and comfort.
