Foot & Heel Pain. Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is very common and is located either in the arch of the foot or in the heel. The plantar fascia becomes inflamed and irritated resulting in pain. The cause may be from excessive running, standing, jumping or poor biomechanical foot posture. Once irritated it is difficult to walk and pain increases with prolonged standing, walking or running. Pain may be worse first thing in the morning due to the connective tissue contracting overnight.
Chronic plantar fasciitis can lead to an extension of the heel bone and is called a heel spur. It can become progressively more severe and damage the tissue. The heel spur is located under the front part of the soft tissue of the heel.
Our Podiatrists can provide various treatments for plantar fasciitis and heel spurs including: Heel stretching exercises, Foot strapping, Orthotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Return to foot problems
